We aren't going to take one.

The rules allow for a maximum engine capacity of 1.0 Litre, and our wallets allow for a maximum price per car of around £200

After much deliberation, we finally decided upon the VW Polo as our vehicle of choice, due to their sound reputation, relative ease of maintenance, and due to the fact that lots of other teams have used the Polo before, it seems like a good bet.

We also suffer from a total lack of understanding of all things mechanical, and so will be relying on various acquaintances of ours to bring us up to speed on the complexities of the 20 year old internal combustion engine before we leave!
