If you have lost some of your natural teeth, then they can be replaced with implants.

An implant is a titanium component which is fixed into the jaw bone. After about six weeks, the surrounding bone locks the implant into place, and the implant becomes as firm as a natural tooth.

The implant can be used to support other screwed in components, including crowns, and bridges to replace the missing tooth.

The insertion of the implant is a very skilled procedure, and we have taken the view that the procedure should be provided by a specialist, so we refer our patients to a specialist in Shrewsbury for this.

When the implant has been placed, patients return to Dawley Dental Practice, where we can then use the implant to support artificial teeth in the form of crowns or bridges.

Implants can remove the need for dentures completely, and in many circumstances are better than placing bridges on natural teeth, which have to be cut down to support a bridge.
